Why Low Fat Diets Don't Work
Knowing how to eat healthy is getting more and more confusing. In the early 1980's we were told to avoid fat as much as possible to decrease our chances of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers. Over 30 years have passed since then, and these diseases are affecting people more now than ever before.
If you see a diet that is labelled low fat, or no fat, run the other way. Fat is essential in your diet. The issue then becomes which kind of fat is essential and what kind of fat do you avoid?
Your body knows what to do with healthy fat. Healthy fat provides energy, supports the joints, provides anti-inflammatory properties, helps regulate the thyroid, and much more. What many might not know is that in order to lose weight and maintain optimum health your body requires fat. Healthy fat is found naturally in grass-fed meat, fish, avocados, nuts, butter, olive oil, coconut oil, flax seeds, etc. Avoid the fats that are found in packaged, processed foods and are labelled trans fats.
