Raw Cocoa Power Balls

The other day I opened my email inbox to find one with a peculiar subject line that read, "Show Us Your Goodies." Normally, I would assume that it would have accidentally went to the inbox when it was supposed to end up in the spam folder, but I was really curious because I knew the sender. It was one of my triathlon cycling coaches.
The email was is regards to our last training session before Christmas and how the group was expected to bring some holiday treats to share.
The triathlete is not much different than a normal person in the sense that we also get tempted to eat more “goodies” than we should. In fact, many participate in the sport particularly so they can indulge a bit more from time to time.
Upon learning that I am a member of this strange, cult-like activity, also known as triathlon, many proceed to ask which of the three disciplines I most enjoy and excel at most. My response is usually the same, "Why the fourth disciple of course...eating."
The problem is that even though we train hard and burn a lot of calories, poor food choices can wreak havoc on our performance. So, I've been on a mission to make yummy treats that anyone can enjoy, without the guilt associated with indulging.
I recommend making up a batch or two of these Raw Cocoa Power Balls, and then storing extras in the freezer. That way you can take a few with you on those busy days where you'll need that quick energy boost, without the sugar low that shortly follows. It's just one way to make healthy food convenient.
