Gillian is teaching us to be more in tune with our heart, both our physical heart and our energetic heart. The other focus of today's yoga practice is to lengthen the body upon your inhale breath and draw your shoulders (the head of the arm bone) back and down upon your exhale breath.
Gillian continues with the focus on the heart. The second session of the yoga practice is usually more vigorous. She reminds us that if, during a pose with the arms overhead, you feel as though the heart becomes too overstimulated, you may place the hands on the hips instead.
The third session of this yoga practice is focused more on the restorative poses. We continue to work with the theme of the heart. Gillian takes some time to describe the five layers of ourselves. It is a good reminder that yoga is a great way to connect to all layers, as we tend to forget about them.
